Story 1
Escape from
Afghanistan
Although I was recalled to duty in 1980 to take
part in the infamous Operation Eagle Claw, the
disastrous plan to free the American hostages
held in Iran, I soon found that my mission
involved possibly evacuating the hostages to
the East … out through Afghanistan.
You may remember the Soviets had invaded
Afghanistan and the US was training and
supplying the local, mountain tribal militia.
This is the story of my battalion of Taliban
tribesmen's effort to chase the Russians out
and free the hostages.

Story 2
Kyrkyz-Knot
Assignment
Because of my Special Intelligence clearances I
was recalled to duty during the Gulf War.
Although I was stationed at an airfield in
the Persian Gulf, I soon found myself flying a
partially restored, WWI German SPAD fighter
from the mountainside strip on Probeda Peak … a
25,000 foot crag of the Kyrgyz High Pamir …
northern rampart of the Hindu Kush Mountains of
the Central Asian Knot.
This is an exciting fighting adventure
supporting a Pathan Tribal militia fighting the
final Soviet Communist insurgency in the
breakup of the Soviet Union.
